Morgantown is home to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, a level 1 trauma center. The hospital was ranked as the number one hospital in West Virginia by U.S. News & World Report and has four Magnet designations from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The WVU School of Medicine also is a top medical school graduating some of the brightest minds of the new generation.

The Morgantown area is home to the WVU Mountaineers, a variety of Division 1 sports and the West Virginia Black Bears baseball team.
