David Satterfield is Director of Asset Development for the Office of Research and Economic Development at West Virginia University and a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Music. Mr. Satterfield also serves as the Assistant to the Director of the WVU Manufacturing Extension Partnership, as well as the Facility Security Officer for WVU and the WVU Innovation Corporation.
Satterfield served as the Executive Director of the West Virginia Development
Office from October 2001 through January 2005, where he: focused on building
strong communities; recruited new investment from around the United States and
the world; strengthened and retained existing industry; enhanced
entrepreneurial opportunities; and building small businesses.
Mr. Satterfield previously served as the Chief of
Staff and Vice President for Institutional Advancement at WVU, advising former
President David Hardesty. He served as WVU’s primary government relations executive, coordinated
the internal administration strategies of the institution and spearheaded
Satterfield also directed the transition team of former Gov. Bob Wise, elected,
in November 2000. He became the governor’s chief of staff in January 2001
before returning to WVU.
is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. He has two music degrees (BM and MM) from WVU
and has been a faculty member in the College of Creative Arts at WVU since 1983.
